“There is no way to be a perfect parent, but a million ways to be a good one.”

Jill Churchill

Children & Teens

I specialize in working with families with children/teens with extensive behavioral challenges including: substance abuse, school truancy, violent behaviors, self-harm and suicidal ideation, severe anxiety and depression, etc. I also work with LGBTQ+ teens navigating this space, parents generally needing support and education on how to guide and manage their child/teen. At this time, I do not work individually with children under the age of 12 years old, but I can see parents of any age child.

Individual/Couples Therapy - For Parents

Parenting a child with behavioral challenges can be an incredibly demanding and emotional journey. It’s not uncommon to feel overwhelmed, frustrated, or unsure about how to best support your child while maintaining your own well-being.

Working with a therapist who specializes in behavioral challenges can offer a compassionate and practical approach to understanding and addressing these difficulties. Together, you’ll explore strategies to manage and improve behavior, enhance your parenting techniques, and build a supportive environment for your child’s growth.

Therapy can provide you with tools, insights, and a renewed sense of confidence as you navigate these challenges, helping you to foster a positive and nurturing relationship with your child.

Individual Therapy - For Teens

Navigating the teenage years can be a turbulent time for both teens and their families. This period is marked by significant changes, from developing a sense of identity to managing social pressures and academic stress.

Therapy for teens offers a supportive and confidential space where they can explore their thoughts and feelings, build coping skills, and work through challenges with a trained professional. It’s an opportunity for teens to gain self-awareness, address issues such as anxiety, depression, or behavioral struggles, and develop healthier ways to manage their emotions. For parents, therapy can also provide insights and strategies to better support their teen through this crucial developmental phase. If you’re considering therapy for your teen, it can be a powerful tool for fostering resilience and promoting emotional well-being during these formative years.

Family Therapy - For Parents and Children/Teens

Family dynamics can be complex and challenging, especially when conflicts arise or when navigating major life transitions. Family therapy offers a supportive environment where all members can come together to address issues, improve communication, and strengthen their relationships. Whether you're facing ongoing conflicts, adjusting to a new family structure, or simply seeking to enhance your family's connection, therapy provides a space for open dialogue and mutual understanding. Through guided sessions we can explore patterns of behavior, work through disagreements, and build healthier ways of interacting with one another.
